Pricing Basis
MetaMatrix products are priced based on two metrics of product use:
- total # of CPUs
- # of data sources integrated
Since all integration is done in the context of a VDB, the "# data sources" check is done on a "per-VDB" basis.
What Constitutes a 'CPU'?
The price of MetaMatrix products that execute federated queries is based on the number of CPUs that the execution engine runs on.
CPU pricing is based on the total number of CPUs on which MetaMatrix is running. For example, if MetaMatrix is running on a dual-processor machine, that is counted as 2 CPUs. Similarly, if MetaMatrix is running on a multi-processor machine, or on multiple machines, then the number of CPUs on which the price is based is the total number of CPUs across all those machines.
What Constitutes a 'Source'?
A source is a set of data that is integrated into MetaMatrix through a single connector binding. Below are how various types of data sources are defined from the perspective of "number of data sources".
| Source Type | Definition of "Source" |
|---|---|
| Relational DBMS | A database source is defined as an instance of a database, connected to via a single URL and user/password. |
| Delimited Text Files | A set of delimited text files with the same file structure and in the same directory can be accessed as a single source. Files can be delimited by character (such as CSV files), or can contain data in fixed column widths. |
| XML Files | A set of XML files in the same directory can be accessed as a single source. These files must all correspond to the same XML Schema (XSD). |
| XML over HTTP | XML accessed over a single HTTP connection is treated as a data source. |
| Web Services | A Web service is defined by a single WSDL, and a single Web service endpoint (connection) defined within that WSDL. It is typical that a WSDL will define only one endpoint, so then there's a 1:1 relationship between WSDL and 'source'. Otherwise, a single WSDL could define multiple Web service sources. |
Annual Maintenance
Annual maintenance for all software licenses is 18% of the base price. Annual maintenance is mandatory for the first year of software purchase.
Licensing Considerations
MetaMatrix products are distributed with a standard license agreement. In addition to this agreement, MetaMatrix products are controlled by a license file, called MetaMatrixLicense.xml.
