Release Overview
Release 5 SP1 continues MetaMatrix's focus on data services -- access to integrated information in multiple sources through standard APIs such as JDBC/SQL and Web Services/SOAP. This release builds upon Release 5 SP1, adding much new functionality in addition to addressing outstanding known issues.
The following are several highlights from the 5.0 SP2 Release Notes:
- Dynamic SQL. Dynamic SQL provides a more dynamic level of control over queries in a virtual procedure based on procedure inputs. Previously, the typical solution was to create a series of if/else statements based on procedure inputs to choose a query with specific criteria appropriate to the inputs.
- VDB-scoped Connector Bindings. Avoids the unintentional reuse of connector bindings across two different VDBs in MM Query.
- XQuery Transformations from Relational Models. XQuery transformations in the Designer now fully support access to all relational constructs from any physical or virtual transformations along with their XML data source counterparts.
- Web Service Operations Editor. Both Enterprise and Dimension Designer have greatly enhanced the selection and editing of input parameters for Web service operations.
